GEE Publishing, part of Sweet & Maxwell, had a turnover of £13m and published books, directories, magazines, loose-leaf publications, newsletters and CDs.
Product Data Manager - Sweet & Maxwell - February 1998 to June 2001
Managed a new data department for Sweet & Maxwell's electronic products & Westlaw. The department comprised of 37 staff located in London and Yorkshire.
FT Law & Tax was a company within the Financial Times Group part of Pearson. Pearson is a global publishing company with imprints such as FT Newspapers, Penguin, Ladybird, Longman and Prentice Hall.
Production Director
Part of the team of directors that in the three years prior to the acquisition by Sweet & Maxwell doubled profits by reducing costs, increasing turnover and rationalising the book lists. I had board level responsibility for Production and Technical Development of electronic products.
I set up my own company specialising in supplying publishers with computers, consultancy and training services.
I built up a customer base of over 50 customers suppling software, computers and networks to small to medium size businesses as well as authors.
I also ran a range of training courses for a number of organisations on the use of computers in publishing. I also lectured in Eastern Europe for the British Council - Warsaw, Budapest and Vilnius.
